Freehand File Guidelines

Guidelines for FreeHand

Note - we do not work in FreeHand, your final version should be a file that we can open in Illustrator, export as an .esp file.

When You Set Up Your Document

Give your file a name that is easy to associate with your job.
Make your design to size, allow room on the edges for finishing the banners, do not place any key design elements within 1.5" of any sewn edge. For information on banner finishing styles see satin banner finishing, or poly duck and vinyl banner finishing. (If your design bleeds, add at least 1/4"of background color on all four sides, outside the image area)
We prefer to have files in RGB color.

Placing Bitmap Files

Use this step if your file contains any bitmap images.
Tiff (.tiff), EPS (.eps) Large file, JPEG. (.jpg) Not recommended

Import your images, making sure they are at least 125 dpi at full size.
For more information on working with bitmap images see color space guidelines on the Photoshop page.

Saving The File

Export the file rather than save it.
Export in an Illustrator format, the highest number available in your version, click setup to select RGB colors conversion option.
Name the file with your company name and date, (XYZcompany-mm-dd-yy.ai), or your order number.
